Dr. MJ Khan

A well-known face in political and agriculture arena, Dr. MJ Khan has made noticeable contributions to the Indian and global food and agriculture sector. Dr. Khan graduated in agriculture from Meerut University, post graduated in business management from AMU Aligarh and obtained Ph.D in agribusiness management from Prescott University, UK. During his two and half decades long career, Dr. Khan served the Government of Uttar Pradesh in Animal Husbandry department, global major Glaxo India in veterinary division, Indian conglomerate, EID Parry in Seeds business and the Indian Agrochemicals Association, before starting knowledge sector enterprise in agriculture. Dr. Khan launched Agriculture Today Group to provide knowledge led growth of Indian farm sector.

Under his leadership, Indian Council of Food and Agriculture has been constituted. ICFA is working as the apex level policy research and trade facilitation body and national knowledge resource centre for food and agriculture sector in India and also serving as the global platform for partnerships, technology, investments and agribusiness services. ICFA through its proactive policy and development agenda, and national and global partnerships is creating opportunities for growth, value addition and trade to help improve the income of farmers. Towards international reach out, Dr. Khan led delegations of agriculture stake-holders to Israel, Holland, France, Germany, China and many other countries. He has been sponsored by the Governments of Israel, US, Denmark, Poland, China, France etc. to visit their countries and study agriculture. He also launched International Agriculture Consulting Group in 2011 for providing Indian expertise in food and agriculture to the Asian and African countries to help India forge better ties.

Dr. MJ Khan has hosted over 150 programs of stake-holders, including a series of Round Tables of Policy makers, industry, farmers and experts since the year 2000. He has pioneered many new concepts such as National Policy on Organic Farming, National Extension Policy, and North Eastern Agriculture Development Plans. Dr. Khan has authored over 200 papers on various subjects related to food, agriculture, agribusiness and rural development. He also conceptualized and successfully started the annual Global Agriculture Leadership Summit in India since 2008. Dr. Khan has discharged duties in various capacities, including nominations by the Ministry of Agriculture to various committees and Governing Boards. He is credited for growth in agribusiness sector, giving voice to the farm sector and positioning of Indian agriculture globally.
